Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-12

Last updated: 2026-11-02

This policy describes how the Apps actually work today. If we change it in a way that matters, we will update it here and tell you in the app. Questions: privacy@aipictureframe.net.

This policy explains what AI Picture Frame ("we", "us") collects when you use the AI Picture Frame mobile app and the AI Picture Frame Display tablet app (together, the "Apps"), why we collect it, and who else sees it.

1. The short version

  • We collect your email address, the photographs you upload, the artwork generated from them, and a small amount of usage data.
  • Your photographs are sent to third-party AI providers to generate artwork. This is the core function of the product and cannot be switched off while you use it. Section 4 names every provider.
  • We never see or store your card details. Payments run through Polar, which acts as merchant of record.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers.
  • You can turn off usage analytics at any time in Settings → Privacy, and you can delete your account and its data.

2. What we collect

2.1 Account data

  • Email address and password. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes; we cannot read them.
  • Google sign-in (optional, Android). If you choose "Continue with Google", Google confirms your identity and shares your email address, the name on your Google account and a link to your Google profile picture. We use the name only to prefill your profile name, which you can change. The profile-picture link is stored with your sign-in record but not used or shown anywhere. We never receive your Google password.
  • Account state, such as when you completed onboarding.

2.2 Content you provide

  • Source photographs you upload to generate artwork from.
  • Prompts — the text describing the artwork you want, whether you typed it or selected it from a template.
  • Generated artwork produced from your photographs and prompts.
  • Feedback you give on artwork (for example approving or rejecting a generated image).

Photographs of people. If your uploads show identifiable people, that content may constitute sensitive personal data in some jurisdictions. Only upload photographs you have the right to use, and consider whether everyone depicted would consent to the processing described in Section 4.

2.3 Device and delivery data

  • Push notification tokens, so we can tell you when artwork is ready. Delivered via the Expo push service.
  • Frame pairing data — the link between your account and the tablet display, including short-lived pairing codes.
  • Group and invitation data if you share a frame with other people.

2.4 Subscription data

  • Your subscription status, plan and renewal dates, and the identifiers Polar gives us to match a payment to your account. We do not receive or store card numbers.

2.5 Usage analytics — optional

When enabled, the Apps record a deliberately small set of events:

EventMeaning
app_openedThe app was launched
artwork_displayedA piece of artwork was shown on a frame
onboarding_step_enteredYou reached a step in first-run setup
onboarding_completedYou finished first-run setup
onboarding_abandonedYou left first-run setup without finishing

Each event carries only the platform (iOS/Android), the app version, and the event's own properties. There is no third-party analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.

This is on by default and you can switch it off in Settings → Privacy → Share usage data. The setting is enforced on our servers, not just in the app, so turning it off stops collection rather than merely hiding it.

2.6 Crash and error reports

We use Sentry to capture crashes and errors so we can fix them. These reports can include device model, OS version, app version, and a technical stack trace.

5. Where your data is stored

Our database, authentication and file storage run on Supabase infrastructure hosted in AWS ap-south-1 (Mumbai, India). Our application backend runs on AWS in us-east-1 (N. Virginia, USA). Our processors listed in Section 4 may process data in other countries, including the United States.

7. Your rights

  • Delete your account and data: in the app, or by emailing us.
  • Turn off analytics: Settings → Privacy → Share usage data.
  • Everything else: contact privacy@aipictureframe.net. We will respond within one month.

If you are in the UK or EEA and you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your local supervisory authority.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not offer financial incentives for personal information.

8. Children

The Apps are not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is restricted. Passwords are stored only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change significantly affects you, tell you in the app.
